The performance was two hours of high-energy, non-stop, no intermission awe and amazement. Each king and queen candidate strutted their stuff for 20 minutes and four costume changes, with several different dance troupes. The square was packed for the performance. I had to raise my camera above my head, point, pray and shoot to take pictures.

JLo and Shakira we great Super Bowl halftime entertainment but queen candidates out danced them.

The above dance troupe was comprised of niñas (young girls). I’m guessing they are probably 12 – 14 years old.

Not all the dancers were young trim and svelt. A hand full of dancers looked to be my age and some were twice my size. They were all beautiful. I know I couldn’t dance like that. You go girl!

At some point I just quit taking pictures to simply enjoy the show. I can hardly wait for the Mardi Gras Parades!
